Established in Tokyo in 1959, Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) is an association of registered travel companies. With about 1,170 active members, JATA addresses travel industry’s common issues, proposes policy initiatives, holds the large-scale tourism exposition known as Tourism EXPO Japan, and participates in international gatherings such as UNWTO, WTTC and PATA summits.

In addition to serving the interests of the travel industry, JATA is also tasked with conducting national examination for Certified Travel Supervisors and managing a bond guarantee system for bankruptcy of member companies.

JATA signed the Private Sector Commitment to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism in 2014, and is committed to further contributing to global tourism industry.
