The Institut de Recherches et d’Etudes Supérieures du Tourisme (IREST) exists till 1961. It is part of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. The IREST proposed mainly post-graduate educational programs and in particular a TOURISM master composed by different thematic specialization in urban planning, cultural heritage, international tourism, hotel management, sustainable tourism.

In terms of research, the Interdisciplinary team of Tourist Studies (EA EIREST) depending on IREST is a university research team made up of geographers, economists, lawyers, historians, art historians, sociologists, anthropologists, specialists in management, etc. It is 100% dedicated to tourism topics. It has been created officially in 2010, and exists as a research center since 2008. The research center is composed of 14 researchers, 13 associated researchers, 23 PhD students
