The Honorable Mr. Danny Law Heng Kiang was appointed as the Penang State Minister for Tourism in 2008. During his current tenure, Mr. Law has spearheaded various events in Penang. One of the most notable events is the Penang Bridge International Marathon which was named by the Malaysia Book of Recordsas the “Largest Marathon in Malaysia”for 4 consecutive years. In year 2014, there were 65,000 runners and was also named in the Guinness World Records for the “Longest Bridge Marathon”ever. Penang has received many international awards and recognitions including recently being listed as one of the 17 Best Places to Visit in 2017 by CNN. Moreover, Traveller Australia listed Penang’s Gurney Drive as one of the “25 Best Streets around the World for Tourists to Visit before You Die”in 2017. In a medical perspective, International Living listed Malaysia (namely Penang) as the “4 Countrieswith the Best Healthcare in the World”in 2017. Other significant events that brought Penang to fame are Penang International Dragon Boat Festival, Penang Chingay Parade and Penang Bon Odori which attracts thousands of visitors from all walks of life to catch these annual events
