2023.12.20

The World Tourism Alliance (WTA), in collaboration with Future Plus Technologies (Beijing) Co., Ltd., has officially launched the fourth season of the micro-documentary series “Better Tourism, Better Life, Better World” on CGTN’s new media platforms. This release marks a significant stride in showcasing the transformative power of tourism in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

Eradicating poverty is the foremost goal of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The WTA, committed to the motto “Better Tourism, Better Life, Better World”, and driven by its mission of “Promoting Tourism for Peace, Development, and Poverty Alleviation”, has been actively contributing to tourism-driven poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in recent years.

The latest season of the micro-documentary consists of two episodes: “Nourishment for the Mind” from the rural revitalization demonstration area in Longwan Lake, Sishui County, Shandong, and “A Little White Wolf Sees a Deer in the Deep Forest” from Bailang Town, Arxan, Inner Mongolia. These episodes showcase the transformation of natural resources and cultural uniqueness into sustainable tourism models, highlighting China’s experience and achievements in rural revitalization through the development of cultural and tourism industries. These stories not only offer valuable insights for China’s rural revitalization efforts but also contribute Chinese solutions and strength to the global poverty alleviation cause. The micro-documentary is now available on various platforms, including CGTN’s official website, mobile app, YouTube, Facebook, X(Twitter), TikTok, and Weibo.

Based on “WTA Best Practice in Poverty Alleviation Through Tourism” and “WTA Best Practices of Rural Revitalization Through Tourism”, the series aims to authentically represent the typical cases in the target regions. It narrates how tourism transforms the natural endowments of “Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains” into “Invaluable Assets”, improving the lives of local communities. The series vividly interprets and disseminates the core concept of “Better Tourism, Better Life, Better World”, effectively telling China’s story of rural revitalization and sharing its poverty alleviation experiences. This contributes sustainably to the global poverty reduction efforts and highlights the role of culture and tourism as a bridge and bond.

The first three seasons of the series, comprising ten episodes, were broadcast on CGTN and other media platforms like xuexi.cn, receiving widespread attention and acclaim within the industry. Moving forward, the World Tourism Alliance will continue to leverage its resources and platforms, uniting global members and collaborators to consolidate poverty alleviation achievements, conduct rural revitalization research, and share relevant experiences. It advocates for sustainable tourism development and social welfare initiatives, contributing to the high-quality advancement of the global tourism industry.
