December 22, 2023 – The China (Wuyi Mountain) Travel Service Providers Conference 2023, hosted by the China Association of Travel Services, Nanping Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and the People’s Government of Wuyishan City, was held in Nanping, Fujian. Mr. LIU Shijun, WTA Vice Chair and Secretary-General, was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech.

In his address, Mr. LIU highlighted the new challenges and opportunities in both domestic and international tourism. He emphasized the need for a clear understanding of high-quality tourism development and a scientific approach to market trends. Mr. LIU proposed four key strategies for inbound tourism promotion:

  1. Embracing Sustainable Tourism for a Brighter Future:Tourism enterprises should focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects, prioritizing conservation over exploitation.
  2. Leveraging Technological Innovation for Multidimensional Experiences:He urged businesses to innovate, creating fresh and engaging experiences from traditional offerings.
  3. Focusing on Market Demand to Increase Effective Supply:This involves optimizing inbound tourism product structures based on market needs, developing targeted sub-products, establishing new promotional systems, and revitalizing tourism resources through brand synergy.
  4. Valuing Tourism Talent and Ensuring Their Welfare: Recognizing and supporting frontline tourism professionals in their career development is crucial.

The World Tourism Alliance, as Mr. LIU stated, is committed to working with practitioners to strengthen communication, integrate resources, and jointly promote the prosperity of China’s tourism industry.

The conference, themed “Transformative Travel Building Quality, Consumer Upgrading Fuels Vitality”, saw nearly 300 participants. These included representatives from the World Tourism Alliance, China Tourism Automobile and Cruise Association, China Railway Investment Group Co., Ltd., and the China Association of Travel Services, along with government tourism offices and travel service providers from various countries, including Russia, Poland, and Los Angeles.
