Established in 1981 by Yu Guangyuan, a well-known economist, China Society of Territorial Economists is a national corporation registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and is part of the China Association of Science and Technology. Yu Guangyuan, Du Runsheng, Wang Xian and Zhang Huaixi, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, have successively served as the president of the Society. Relevant ministries and commissions, such as the State Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the State Forestry Administration and the State Development Bank, hold relevant positions of the Society and participate in or guide the work of the Society.The Secretariat of the Society has 16 full-time staff, and has professional committees on tourism and development, environment and development, small town construction and island development.
