Gansu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism is a newBureau-Director level government body established as a product of the government restructuring in the province. Key responsibilities：

1. Formulating policy measures and drafting local regulations and rules for Gansu’s cultural and tourism industries, and being responsible for administration of the Department according to law.

2. Promoting cultural programs, cultural industry and tourism, formulating and organizing the implementation of relevantdevelopment plans, pushing forward reforms of mechanisms and institutions for cultural and tourism industries, and facilitating the integrated development of culture and tourism in the province.

3. Administering major cultural and tourism events, guiding the construction of key cultural and tourism facilities, organizing overall image promotion of Gansu’s culture and tourism, propelling international cooperation and marketing of cultural and tourism industries, formulating and organizing the implementation of strategies on tourism market development and promoting all-for-one tourism.

4. Guiding and administering literary and art programs, encouraging artistic creation and production, supporting representative and exemplary literary and art works that embody the core socialist values and lead the public opinion, and pushing forward the development of all categories and varieties of art for the inheritance and evolution of fine traditional Chinese culture and Gansu culture.

5. Being responsible for public cultural development, promoting the construction of public cultural servicesystem and public tourism service platform, deepening the implementation of inclusive cultural programs, and comprehensively pushing forward equal access to standard basic public cultural services.

6. Facilitating the scientific and technological innovation in culture and tourism, and promoting the informatization and standardization of the cultural and tourism industries. 7. Being responsible for the protection of intangible cultural heritage and carrying forward its protection, inheritance, popularization, promotion and revitalization. 8. Organizing and implementing the survey, development, protection and exploitation of cultural and tourism resources for the development of cultural and tourism industries.
