Insights & Inspirations |Smart Asian Games & Coordinated Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism Integration

2023-11-23

In a pivotal segment of the 2023 WTA • Xianghu Dialogue titled “Empowerment of Science and Technology: Tourism Promotes Industrial Integration”, Mr. NI Shenghua, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Fliggy, shared his insights on the “Smart Asian Games & Coordinated Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism Integration”.

Here are excerpts from his speech:

My speech is divided into two main parts: Firstly, I will discuss the technological advancements implemented during the Asian Games to connect venues, meetings, and the city, creating engaging and enjoyable experiences. Secondly, I will explore how artificial intelligence can make the Asian Games more fun, effective, and technologically advanced.

The Asian Games slogan “Watch the Asian Games Touring Hangzhou” is the starting point of our approach to applications of technologies in Asian Games. The techs are applied in three directions: First, through the empowerment of IP and the application of platform capabilities, we aim to amplify the IP potential to maximize brand value and sales. For this purpose, leveraging our advantageous resources, we have precisely categorized all enterprises to ensure accurate online IP marketing. Second, by using our travel platform, we enable both online and offline users to feel the warmth of the city, thus better connecting tourism and culture. To achieve sustainable operations, we have help enterprises customize a set of products that can be reserved at any time. Third, to make touring Hangzhou more convenient for new guests, we have introduced general ticket types and enhanced our marketing efforts with promotions like “Buy an air ticket, get a chance to draw raffle event tickets”, utilizing the limited IP to maximize efficiency.

This year’s Asian Games coincide with the National Day holiday season, providing an opportunity to promote the culture and local life of Hangzhou to consumers while giving them more feedback. So, how do we use the Asian Games IP and digital platform for crowd marketing and regional accumulation? For this, we have customized a model that connects online and offline data, stimulating consumers’ desire for challenges through intensive tasks. Using digital technology, we design tasks and gameplay, making content that was previously connected only through brands and customer choices more digital and effective.

For many people, especially foreign friends who come to Hangzhou during the Asian Games, staying in the city as a stranger is the biggest trouble. How can we make touring Hangzhou convenient for them? We have taken several measures: First, by establishing connections between the platform, businesses, and the city, we have made tourism more closely related to culture, the city, and its people, achieving a more convenient way of travel. We have also made attempts at intelligent solutions, considering their universality, to make the cultural and tourism experience during the Asian Games more interesting and the digital IP assets more personalized and cost-effective. Second, for the first time in the history of the Asian Games, we have introduced a 3D Asian Games online store, allowing visitors to learn about the Games, make purchases, take on challenges, and participate in activities online. This simple tech solution has made what was costly method accessible during the Asian Games. For the first time in history, we have achieved a 3D online representation of the Asian Games, integrating 3D multimodal interaction, transactions, fulfillment, and lottery in one. Through online, anthropomorphic 3D graphics, we enable consumers to connect better with the Asian Games, directly completing purchases, transactions, and other services.

In summary, our focus at Fliggy during the Asian Games was twofold: firstly, to enhance operational effectiveness through mature digital technologies, connecting people, events, and the city more effectively; and secondly, to lower the high costs and barriers of the Games, making it accessible to everyone. Technology, in my view, should not be exclusive but should become affordable and usable for the general public.
