The World Tourism Alliance (WTA) announced the addition of nine new members, as approved by the 2nd WTA Council. These new members include five domestic organizations: the Zhangjiajie Municipal People’s Government, the Lijiang Municipal People’s Government, BEIJING-SHANGHAI HIGH SPEED RAILWAY CO., LTD., HCG International Travel Group Co., Ltd., and Wuxi Juna Hotels Management Group Co., Ltd. The four international members are the Silk Road Samarkand Touristic Centre LLC (Uzbekistan), Zala Spring Golf Resort (Hungary), Skyzone Tours& Travel Sdn. Bhd (Malaysia), and The Bicester Collection (UK). Membership for these organizations will be effective starting April 15, 2024. To further optimize the membership structure and enhance service capabilities, the 2nd WTA Council has decided to terminate the memberships of five enterprises: Genting Hong Kong Limited, Lingnan Eco & Culture-Tourism Co., Ltd., HNA Air Travel Group Co., Ltd., Okair, and OYO Hotel Management (Shanghai) Co., LTD. As a result, the total number of WTA members now stands at 240, covering 42 countries and regions, with 115 domestic and 125 international members.
Membership is central to WTA’s mission. By strengthening communication with members, WTA actively promotes brand activities and reinforces its leadership role in the global industry. From March 5-7, 2024, WTA successfully held the “WTA Members’ Day • Hainan 2024” in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. The event, themed “New Insights into Leisure Travel and Expenditure 2024”, focused on new driving forces in tourism consumption during recovery, promoting global tourism interconnectivity, shared governance, and sustainable development, earning widespread praise from participants. Members’ Day is characterized by its limited access, clear themes, diverse formats, and strong outreach, serving as a regular platform for members to connect, deepen friendships, and discuss cooperation. WTA plans to continue organizing Members’ Day events aligned with current hot topics, further solidifying its role as a platform for member exchange and cooperation and improving mechanisms for member interaction and sharing.
To establish a regular communication mechanism between members and the alliance, WTA has launched a “Member News” column on its official media platform, providing a space to showcase recent updates and share development achievements. To date, 17 issues have been published. WTA will continue to focus on member needs, enhance member services, and improve the value chain to better serve its members.
