October 30, 2024, Sanya – The 3rd Session of the 2nd Council of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) was successfully held in Sanya, Hainan Province, China, in the morning.
The session, chaired by WTA Chair Mr. ZHANG Xu, reviewed and approved the Report on General Program of Work for 2024 Work and Draft Program of Work for 2025 of World Tourism Alliance, as well as the World Tourism Alliance Audit Report of 2023 and Draft Budget of 2025. The council also received an update from WTA Vice Chair and Secretary-General Mr. LIU Shijun regarding the admission of new members and the departure of certain members. Attending council representatives formally signed off on the resolutions of the 3rd Session of the 2nd Council.
Founded in China, WTA is a comprehensive, non-governmental, and non-profit international tourism organization. The WTA General Assembly, composed of all member units, is the organization’s highest authority, while the Council serves as its executive body. The Council, acting on behalf of the General Assembly during its intersessional periods, oversees WTA’s day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. The 4th Session of the 2nd WTA Council is scheduled to convene in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, in October or November 2025.
