The China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2025, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, opened at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Haikou on December 19. The opening ceremony featured addresses by FENG Fei, Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee; GAO Zheng, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China; Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the UN Tourism; and Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Among the distinguished attendees was ZHENG Hao, Vice Chair and Secretary-General of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), who was also invited to attend a meeting hosted by Hainan Governor LIU Xiaoming.

During their meeting, ZHENG Hao highlighted the significant tourism opportunities arising from the island-wide customs closure operation of the Hainan Free Trade Port. He expressed the WTA’s commitment to leveraging its resources and platform to help promote Hainan’s high-quality tourism offerings, boost its global appeal and influence, and support its development into a world-class tourism destination.

Under the theme "Nihao China", this year’s CITM attracted more than 1,000 travel industry representatives from 101 countries and regions. The World Tourism Alliance Pavilion, themed "A Global Journey of Innovation and Integration in Theme Parks", showcased distinctive cultural and tourism products and innovative experiences from WTA members such as Shanghai Disney Resort, LEGOLAND, and Haichang Ocean Park. Through immersive interactions and engaging experience games, the pavilion vividly presented the latest achievements in integrated cultural tourism and technological innovation within the theme park sector. It drew keen interest from numerous international travel agents, including delegates from Egypt, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Mexico, and Austria. On-site exchanges and business discussions were dynamic and productive. Many overseas travel agents conveyed their intent to deepen cross-border cooperation with WTA members through the Alliance’s platform and jointly advance high-quality development in global tourism.
During the event, the WTA Pavilion was visited by FENG Fei, Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee; LIU Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan Province; GAO Zheng, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism; and Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the UN Tourism.
