At the invitation of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, Mr. ZHENG Hao, Vice Chair and Secretary-General of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), paid a visit to Georgia from March 6 to 8, 2026. On March 6, Mr. ZHENG Hao met with Ms. Maya Omiadze, Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration. The two sides exchanged views on deepening exchanges and cooperation in the tourism sector.

Mr. ZHENG Hao thanked Ms. Omiadze for the invitation and provided an overview of the World Tourism Alliance. He noted that Georgia is endowed with a rich cultural heritage, diverse natural landscapes, and distinctive culinary and winemaking traditions. Since the mutual visa exemption agreement between China and Georgia took effect, Georgia’s profile among Chinese travelers has risen notably, and the number of Chinese visitors to the country has been steadily increasing. He highlighted the broad prospects and significant potential for bilateral tourism cooperation. The WTA, he added, stands ready to leverage its platform and resources to support the Georgian National Tourism Administration in forging partnerships with relevant Chinese institutions and enterprises. Mr. ZHENG Hao also extended an invitation to Ms. Omiadze to attend the 2026 WTA • Xianghu Dialogue, scheduled for November in China.
Ms. Omiadze thanked Mr. ZHENG Hao for the invitation and underscored Georgia’s strong commitment to the Chinese tourism market. She announced that Georgia will participate as an Official Destination Partner at ITB China in Shanghai this May—a significant milestone for the country’s tourism sector and a clear signal of its strategic intent to deepen tourism ties with China. The Georgian National Tourism Administration, she said, is keen to establish a close and pragmatic partnership with the WTA, actively expand its footprint in the Chinese market, and jointly advance the growth of China-Georgia tourism cooperation.
