WTA Chair ZHANG Xu Attends 2025 Consultation Meeting of Hainan Provincial Expert Advisory Panel on High-Quality Tourism Development

Haikou, December 22, 2025 – WTA Chair ZHANG Xu attended the 2025 Consultation Meeting of Hainan Provincial Expert Advisory Panel on High-Quality Tourism Development as a panel member. FENG Fei, Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, addressed the meeting, which was presided over by Vice Governor XIE Jing.

During the meeting, ZHANG Xu offered recommendations for Hainan’s high-quality tourism development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, centered on the goal of accelerating the establishment of a "globally influential international tourism and consumption destination". His suggestions focused on three key areas: further exploring and transforming local cultural values, refining the implementation pathways and risk management strategies for related goals, and enhancing empowerment through smart tourism and data applications.

Established in July 2024, the Hainan Provincial Expert Advisory Panel on High-Quality Tourism Development aims to enhance decision-making and advisory expertise for high-quality tourism development in Hainan province, leveraging the intellectual, professional, and resource advantages of its expert members. The panel comprises 16 distinguished experts, including: LUO Shugang, former Minister of Culture and Tourism and current Chairperson of the Education, Science, Culture, and Public Health Committee of the National People’s Congress; SHAO Qiwei, former Director of the China National Tourism Administration and Vice Chairperson of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance; ZHANG Xinsheng, former Vice Minister of Education and Chairperson of the World Coastal Forum Coordination Committee.

The meeting was attended by officials from various provincial departments, including the Foreign Affairs Office, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports, the Department of Natural Resources and Planning, the Department of Ecology and Environment Protection, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Ocean, as well as 10 experts from the Advisory Panel.
