WTA Vice Chair and Secretary-General-Designate ZHENG Hao Attends the 45th UN Tourism Affiliate Members Plenary Session

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – From November 7 to 11, 2025, the 26th Session of the UN Tourism General Assembly convened in Riyadh. Mr. ZHENG Hao, Vice Chair and Secretary-General-Designate of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), led a delegation to the 45th UN Tourism Affiliate Members Plenary Session upon invitation.

The opening ceremony was addressed by key figures including Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of UN Tourism; Sheikha Al Nowais, Secretary-General (Designate); Ahmed Al Khateeb, Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia and Chair of the 45th Plenary Session; and Emad Naim Hijazeen, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities (Jordan), who also chairs the Affiliate Members’ Committee.

During the session, participants reviewed and adopted the Affiliate Members Activity Report for 2023-2025 and the UN Tourism Work Plan for 2026-2027. A series of awards were presented, recognizing excellence in categories such as the Affiliate Members Promotion Award, Sports Tourism Promotion Award, and Latest Tourism Trends Assessment Award.

On the event, Mr. ZHENG Hao met with Dirk Glaesser, Director of the Sustainable Tourism and Resilience Department at UN Tourism. Mr. ZHENG briefly introduced the WTA and explored avenues for future collaboration, with particular focus on the framework of the 2027 International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism.
