John McReynolds, SVP of Universal Destinations & Experiences, Visits the Headquarters of WTA

Hangzhou, January 28 – ZHENG Hao, Vice Chair and Secretary-General of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), met with senior executives from Universal Destinations & Experiences at the WTA headquarters today. The discussions with John McReynolds, Universal’s Senior Vice President, and SHI Zhenchun, General Manager for the group’s China unit, focused on global tourism trends and potential collaborative opportunities between the two organizations.

During the meeting, John McReynolds outlined Universal’s global strategy, highlighting its position as a leader in immersive entertainment with theme parks in Beijing, Los Angeles, Orlando and Osaka. He noted the recent acceleration of expansion, including the new "Epic Universe" in Orlando and plans for its first European theme park. "The Asia-Pacific region, including China, is the core engine for the recovery of the global tourism industry", McReynolds stated. He expressed Universal’s desire to leverage the WTA’s platform to deepen engagement with cultural tourism partners worldwide and explore cooperation opportunities in areas like IP innovation.

ZHENG Hao acknowledged Universal’s steadfast support as a founding member of the WTA. He underscored the group’s leading role as an international comprehensive tourism conglomerate in integrating global tourism resources, advancing industry standards, and driving innovation in products and services. "These contributions are a significant positive force for the global tourism sector", ZHENG stated. He added that the WTA stands ready to utilize its platform advantages to help its members access global cooperation prospects.

Both sides pledged to maintain dialogue and explore future cooperation in a joint effort to promote the sustainable development of global tourism.
