WTA Secretariat Visits European Members to Strengthen Cooperation

In an effort to strengthen communication between the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) and overseas its members, as well as to understand their development and expectations, the WTA Secretariat, led by YANG Wenjiao, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Cooperation and Development Division, visited Switzerland and France from July 6th to the 10th, 2024. This visit, following the “Europe-China Tourism Dialogue”, aimed to engage with key member organizations and potential new members.

During this visit, the WTA Secretariat held in-depth discussions with various member institutions, including Jungfrau Railway Holding AG, the Geneva Tourism & Conventions Foundation, Pierre et Vacances-Center Parcs Group, Printemps S.A.S, and The Bicester Collection. YANG Wenjiao provided updates on the WTA’s recent activities and future plans, highlighting the WTA’s efforts in strengthening international exchanges, creating brand activities, promoting tourism-related poverty alleviation, conducting industry research, and expanding membership. She emphasized that Europe is a key focus for WTA initiatives and expressed a commitment to offering more valuable services to members. YANG also announced the upcoming major events organized by the WTA, including the 2024 WTA • Xianghu Dialogue, the 3rd Session of the 2nd WTA Council and WTA Annual Meeting 2024, scheduled to be held from October 29 to November 1, 2024, in Sanya, Hainan, China. She extended invitations to all member organizations to participate.

The European member institutions expressed their willingness to leverage their strengths, utilize the WTA platform for increased engagement with Chinese government bodies, tourism enterprises, and associations, and actively participate in WTA activities. They affirmed their dedication to maintaining close contact with the WTA and contributing to the growth of the tourism industry.

FAN Ruiqing, Director of the Division of Member Relationship Management, and XIA Shuang, Program Officer of the Division of Member Relationship Management, also participated in the overseas visits.
