2020.09.28

Liu Shijun, Secretary-General of WTA, attended the 2020 World Culture and Tourism Forum in Xi ‘an, China, on September 28, 2020, at the invitation of the organizer. Liu Shijun delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, sharing his views on the future tourism development from the perspectives of “confidence” and “reform”. He said, although tourism is hard hit by the pandemic, tourism as a rigid demand of modern life, the general trend of various countries seeking peace, development and cooperation, and the important position of tourism in the international industrial pattern will not change in the future. The pandemic has accelerated the exposure of weaknesses already existing in the industry. We should think about how tourism can reflect on lessons and sum up experience from the crisis. More emphasis will be put on the safety, responsibility, quality, technology and talents in future tourism development.

The World Culture and Tourism Forum was co-organized by WTA members–Xi’an and Trip.com Group. With the theme of “Cultural and Tourism Recovery, Innovation and Transformation”, this Forum focuses on the development strategies of the leisure and vacation industry, the opportunities for transformation and upgrading of the cultural and tourism industry, the tourism cooperation and development of Silk Road and other important industry topics against the backdrop of cultural and tourism recovery.

During the event, Liu Shijun also attended and delivered a speech at the Seminar on the Recovery and Revitalization of Xi’an Cultural and Tourism Industry under the New Normal hosted by Xi ‘an Municipal Government.
