On the theme of “cooperation and development for win-win outcomes”, the attendees at the conference had an in-depth exchange on the useful experience of the tourism industry of the two countries in coping with the epidemic and preparing for future recovery, which effectively promoted exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism. Liu Shijun, Secretary General of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), attended the conference and delivered a speech online.

Liu Shijun mentioned in his speech that since its establishment in 2017 the WTA has received high attention and strong support from the Chinese and Japanese tourism communities. Currently, the Alliance has 222 members from 40 countries and regions, including Dalian, JATA, JTB and All Nippon Airways. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the WTA has leveraged its own platform to discuss many hot-spot issues with its members and relevant parties of the industry, including the strategies to cope with uncertainties, the ways to survive despite the industrial downturn, the industry development trends and the action guidelines, confidence building and rebirth under the crisis, which evoked extensive responses from the members and all sectors of society. The WTA is willing to strengthen exchanges and step up cooperation with Dalian and the international community to jointly usher in a new situation of high-quality development of tourism in the new era.
