WTA Hosts the 2nd Session of the Second Council in Hangzhou

November 15, 2023, Hangzhou, China – The 2nd Session of the Second WTA Council was successfully held in Hangzhou, marking a significant milestone in the global tourism sector’s collaborative efforts.

Chaired by Mr. ZHANG Xu, WTA Chair, the session witnessed the approval of key documents including the WTA General Program of Work for 2023 and Draft Program of Work for 2024, the World Tourism Alliance Audit Report of 2022 and Draft Budget of 2024, and the Regulations for World Tourism Alliance Training Expenditures Management (Trial). Additionally, Amendment to Rules of World Tourism Alliance on Expenditure Management (Trial) were discussed and ratified. The meeting also featured a report by Mr. LIU Shijun, WTA Vice Chair and Secretary-General, on the admission of new members, highlighting the Alliance’s growing influence and reach. The participating Council members also approved the resolution of the 2nd Session of the Second WTA Council.

The World Tourism Alliance (WTA), initiated by China, stands as a comprehensive, non-governmental, and non-profit international tourism organization. It operates under the guidance of its highest authority, the General Assembly of all members, with the Council acting as the executive body responsible for the Alliance’s daily operations and accountable to the member assembly. This session’s resolutions, signed by the attending Council members, reflect a unified commitment to advancing global tourism cooperation and development. The next Council meeting is scheduled for November 2024, with the location to be determined.
