WTA Chair ZHANG Xu Meets with Minister of Tourism of Honduras YADIRA GOMEZ

Hangzhou, April 2 – Mr. ZHANG Xu, Chair of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), met with Minister of Tourism of Honduras YADIRA GOMEZ and her delegation at the WTA headquarters in Hangzhou. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation.

Mr. ZHANG Xu warmly welcomed the Honduran delegation and shared updates on the development of WTA. He noted that Honduras boasts rich tourism resources and holds great potential for cooperation. Upholding the values of openness, inclusiveness, and sharing, WTA is willing to strengthen two-way tourism exchanges with Honduras and welcomes influential tourism institutions from the country to join the WTA’s membership system.

Minister GOMEZ expressed appreciation for WTA’s reception. She noted that the visit marked the second anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras, adding to its significance. She introduced the advantages of Honduras’ tourism resources and stressed her country’s high regard for the Chinese market. She explained that Honduras is improving tourism service standards and expanding its air network to facilitate visits by Chinese tourists. Minister GOMEZ extended a sincere invitation to Mr. ZHANG Xu to lead a delegation to Honduras and expressed the country’s willingness to enhance cooperation with WTA and other international tourism organizations to improve the global competitiveness of its tourism industry.

The two sides acknowledged the shared values between Honduras’ approach to tourism development and the WTA’s guiding principle of “Better Tourism, Better Life, Better World”. They look forward to deepening practical cooperation through joint events and enhanced exchanges among tourism institutions and professionals.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. XU Peng, WTA Vice Chair; Mr. LIU Yufeng, Deputy Secretary-General of WTA; Mr. ROLANDO CANIZALES, Manager of the Honduran Institute of Anthropology and History; and Mr. MARIO NUILA, Secretary-General of the Honduran Institute of Tourism.
