Mr. ZHANG Xu Attends the Opening of the 2025 “Ancient City of Snowy Plateau ·Holy City of Lhasa” Cultural Tourism Festival and Lhasa Cultural Tourism Industry Development Conference

Lhasa, May 18 — The 2025 "Ancient City of Snowy Plateau · Holy City of Lhasa" Cultural Tourism Festival and the Lhasa Cultural Tourism Industry Development Conference was successfully held in Lhasa, Tibet. Distinguished attendees included Mr. XIAO Youcai, Standing Committee Member of the Tibet Autonomous Region Party Committee and Party Secretary of the Lhasa Municipal Committee; Mr. WANG Qiang, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Lhasa; Mr. Laxmi Prasad Niraula, Consul General of Nepal in Lhasa; renowned performing artist Liu Jin; and other dignitaries. Mr. ZHANG Xu, Chair of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), was invited to attend the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.

In his speech, Mr. ZHANG Xu underscored Lhasa’s remarkable tourism growth as the world’s highest-altitude tourist destination. The influence of the "Ancient City of the Snowy Plateau · The Holy City of Lhasa" festival continues to expand. Mr. ZHANG emphasized that as a comprehensive, non-governmental, and non-profit tourism organization initiated by China, the WTA is committed to collaborating with Lhasa to promote the cultural tourism industry, positioning it as the "golden key" to economic growth and a "bridge of unity" for ethnic harmony.

At the event, Mr. ZHANG Xu presented the WTA membership certificate to the city of Lhasa.

The Cultural Tourism Festival, themed "Ancient City of Snowy Plateau · Holy City of Lhasa", aims to promote the deep integration of "culture + tourism + industry", advancing Lhasa’s goal to become an international tourism destination.
