2025 WTA · Dongting Dialogue to Kick Off

Against the breathtaking vista of Dongting Lake, the convergence of the Three Xiang Rivers and a legendary waterscape embodying China’s altruistic ethos "world before oneself" and serving as the Yangtze’s ecological sentinel, the 2025 WTA · Dongting Dialogue channels the region’s profound cultural-ecological heritage. Each ripple across Dongting’s expansive waters resonates with the poetic charm of QU Yuan, while each wetland narrates vivid stories of migratory birds and flourishing biodiversity.

As the tourism industry undergoes transformative shifts, ecotourism has evolved beyond traditional boundaries to emerge as a critical pillar of global sustainable development. In response to this paradigm shift, the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), in partnership with the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Yueyang Municipal People’s Government, and other key stakeholders, will co-host the 2025 WTA · Dongting Dialogue on the morning of May 25 in Yueyang, Hunan Province.

The Dialogue, a flagship event of the 4th Hunan Tourism Development Conference, will revolve around the theme of "Rooted in Culture, Enabled by Ecology, Promoting High-Quality Development of Culture and Tourism". Gathering global experts, academics, WTA members, and industry leaders, the forum will explore sustainable models for ecotourism and cultural heritage integration and generate actionable insights to elevate the cultural-ecological tourism sector.

The WTA invites all stakeholders to join in drawing a blueprint for harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, fostering the sustainable development of river and lake ecosystems.
