Secretary-General Liu focused on the current situation and discussed the development of China’s inbound tourism in the new development environment with the theme of “Re-Starting of Inbound Tourism under the New Situation”. He said, “Inbound tourism is the best way to tell good stories about China, an inevitable option of opening to the outside world, an effective way to promote high-quality development of China’s tourism and an important means to balance the service trade deficit. Although the pandemic has pushed the “pause” button on the inbound and outbound tourism markets, China’s determination to develop inbound tourism has never wavered, and governments at all levels are also taking active actions.” For the future recovery and development of inbound tourism, Secretary-General Liu put forward solutions macroscopically from four aspects: building a new publicity and promotion system, optimizing the tourism product system, improving the support and guarantee system, and valuing the talent cultivation system.
He said that as a global, non-governmental, non-profit international tourism organization, WTA would continue to take “Better Tourism, Better Life, Better World” as the mission and play an important role in promoting the connectivity of global tourism. In addition, WTA was willing to further cooperate with governments and enterprises at all levels to make concerted efforts and jointly facilitate the development of inbound tourism.
