On December 26, the 5th Jilin International Ice & Snow Industry Exposition, the 8th Annual Meeting of China’s Tourism Industry, as well as the 24th Changchun Ice and Snow Festival took place in Changchun International Conference & Exhibition Center. Chen Xiaoguang, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and Executive Vice Chairman of the Central Standing Committee of China Democratic League announced to launch the event. Hu Heping, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Duan Qiang, Chairman of World Tourism Alliance (WTA), Ma Jiantang, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, and Jing Junhai, Party Secretary of CPC Jilin Provincial Committee attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Han Jun, Deputy Party Secretary of CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Acting Governor of Jilin Province, presided over the opening ceremony.
Hu Heping said, the development of the ice and snow industry in Jilin Province and the organization of the International Ice & Snow Industry Expo were a vivid practice of carrying forward General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and spirit. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism would continue to support Jilin and other regions with rich ice and snow resources, tell good stories of ice and snow, carry forward the ice & snow culture, and attract more people to participate in ice & snow sports and tourism. Hu said, “We are confident that Jilin Province will grasp the opportunity, and develop itself into a major province of ice & snow industry and tourism development, and a world-class ice & snow tourism destination.”
Duan Qiang said in his speech that, Jilin Province was home to abundant tourism resources and profound cultural deposits. In recent years, the Jilin Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government had thoroughly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statement that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, so are ice and snow resources”, and unswervingly followed the path of ecology first and green development. By doing so, its competitiveness had been enhanced, its influence had been expanded, and the construction of Jilin Province into a famous cultural province, a strong tourism province and a famous ecological tourism destination had been accelerated. As the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games approaches, Jilin Province, known as the “Hometown of Ice and Snow”, has seized the development opportunities, diversified the ice & snow tourism models, improved the level of ice and snow sports and R&D capabilities of ice and snow technology, further developed its ice and snow industry and carried out series of positive and effective work for rendering a well-organized 2022 Winter Olympics, accelerating the popularization of snow and ice sports, promoting economic restructuring, and meeting people’s demand for a better life. The Jilin International Ice & Snow Industry Expo and Ice & Snow Festival not only showcase the huge potential of the ice & snow industry, but also the promising prospect for the development of the ice & snow industry. It’s foreseeable that an increasing number of people will experience happiness and feel the richness of life in ice and snow sports, and the “cold ice & snow resources” will become a “hot industry” driving economic growth.
Jing Junhai extended a warm welcome to distinguished guests on behalf of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and the Provincial Government. He said, “Jilin is located in the world golden latitude of snow and ice, with its ice and snow customs showing unique charm. In recent years, Jilin has thoroughly implemented the instructions of important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection in Jilin, built an ice and snow industry system with ice and snow sports, tourism, culture, and equipment at the core, promoted the innovation, integration and integrated development of ice and snow culture, and led the development trend of ice and snow economy, with a view to driving economic growth with the development of “ice and snow” industry. Winter Olympics is in Beijing and Ice & Snow Experience is in Jilin. Jilin will join hands with everyone to contribute to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, promote the development of ice & snow economy, and create new growth drivers for all-round revitalization of Jilin Province.
This event was guided by the People’s Government of Jilin Province, the Development Research Center of the State Council, and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and sponsored by Jilin Province Department of Culture and Tourism and the People’s Government of Changchun City.” Themed on “Winter Olympics in Beijing and Ice & Snow Experience in Jilin”, this Ice & Snow Expo comprises of nine main activities and ten series of activities, including the “High-Quality Development Forum on China’s Ice & Snow Economy”. Moreover, Jilin Province will launch nearly 300 series of ice & snow festival activities centering on ice & snow culture, tourism, sports, commerce and education in various regions.
