Mr. ZHENG gave an overview of the WTA, highlighting that the WTA currently has over 260 members from countries and regions worldwide. In addition to hosting the annual "Xianghu Dialogue" in China, the WTA also co-organizes international tourism dialogues events in collaboration with specific countries or regions. Recent examples include the Dialogue for China-Spain Tourism Cooperation and the Europe-China Tourism Dialogue. He noted that China and Mexico play important roles as source markets for each other in their respective regions, with Mexico ranking as the top Latin American destination for Chinese travelers. This shows great promise for expanding cooperation between the two countries. Drawing on the WTA’s deep expertise in the Chinese market, Mr. ZHENG expressed interest in helping build new bridges for China-Mexico tourism collaboration and warmly invited Mexico City to join the WTA.

Ms. Guerrero expressed her heartfelt thanks to the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) for the invitation to attend and speak at the Xianghu Dialogue. She shared how impressed she was by the event’s professionalism, scale, and high-level organization — particularly its ability to bring together tourism leaders from around the world. As the only representative from Latin America, she felt truly honored to take part and found the insights shared by other speakers both inspiring and thought-provoking. She said she would give thoughtful consideration to Mexico City joining the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) and expressed strong interest in working with the WTA moving forward. Specifically, she proposed hosting a large-scale, high-level exchange event in Mexico City — modeled after the Xianghu Dialogue — to foster collaboration and dialogue between the tourism industries of China and Latin America.

During the meeting, Mr. ZHENG also introduced the 2025 China Tourism Fair, and extended an invitation for the Tourism of Mexico City to participate as an exhibitor. The two sides held extensive discussions on several key topics, including leveraging culture-tourism integration to revitalize historic urban districts, harnessing technology as a catalyst for the tourism and culture sectors, and advancing public-benefit tourism initiatives.
