On July 22, World Tourism Alliance Member’s Day 2021 was held in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China. Themed by “Festival Brands Building and City Tourism Development", WTA Member’s Day 2021 was sponsored by World Tourism Alliance (WTA) and undertaken by Harbin Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television and Tourism, a member of WTA.

On July 7, 2021 (Beijing Time), at the invitation of the organizer, Zhao Ke, Director of the Division of Service and Management, Secretariat of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), attended the Workshop for China-CEEC on Integration of Culture and Tourism which was themed with “Win-Win Cooperation to Build a New Pattern of Tourism Opening to the Outside World”

WTA plans to visit its members and carry out a research in different places in 2021 to strengthen the daily communication between the members and WTA and learn about their expectations and requirements for WTA under the “new normal”. Recently, WTA Secretary-General Liu Shijun led the secretariat to visit some WTA members in Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

On the afternoon of June 22, 2021 (Beijing time), at the invitation of the Organizer, the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) Secretariat participated in the video seminar on “China-Africa Poverty Reduction Cooperation” jointly organized by the Mission of China to the African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the China-Africa Institute.

Through WTA·Xianghu Dialogue, the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) will send a message to global tourism that as long as we have a firm confidence, uphold cooperation and seek win-win results, the global tourism will pull out of recession, embrace reform and achieve revitalization and development at a new level.

On June 7, the Opening Ceremony of China Tourism and Culture Weeks 2021, co-sponsored by Cultural Exchange between China and Foreign Countries, CPC Publicity Department of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Department of Culture and Tourism of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Yinchuan Municipal People's Government, was successfully held in Yinchuan. The event was attended by Zhang Xu, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, Lai Jiao, Vice Chairman of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Liu Shijun, Secretary-General of WTA.

On the morning of May 21, a ceremony of Luoyang donating collections to the World Tourism Museum was held in Luoyang. The ceremony was attended by Wang Kunxin, Deputy Secretary-General of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) and head of the World Tourism Museum, Hu Dapeng, Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Director of Luoyang Cultural Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, Lu Yi, a Level II Division Rank Official, and heads of 8 donors in the industry.

"Tourism for Poverty Reduction" is one of the important missions of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA). Since established 3 years ago, WTA, making use of its advantages and international platform, has carried out a series of practical and international exchange activities in case analysis, theoretical research and experience publicity of poverty reduction through tourism in line with the goal to eradicate all forms of poverty around the world set by the United Nations in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as the idea of telling good stories about China and giving Chinese approach. It has demonstrated to the international community China's important experience and great achievements in poverty reduction through tourism, attracting extensive attention from the international tourism industry.
