Hangzhou, November 15 – The World Tourism Alliance (WTA) successfully held its Annual Meeting 2023 at the Huanglong Hotel in Hangzhou this morning.

Hangzhou, November 14, 2023 – During the 2023 WTA • Xianghu Dialogue in Hangzhou, RAO Quan, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, met with the second leadership team of the WTA and representatives from various member organizations.

November 10, 2023 - The 13th Anhui International Culture and Tourism Festival, a significant event in the global tourism calendar, was inaugurated in Huangshan, Anhui. The opening ceremony was announced by WANG Qingxian, the Governor of Anhui Province. Distinguished attendees included Mr. ZHANG Xu, WTA Chair, SUN Yong, Deputy Governor of Anhui Province, with a video address by ZHU Shanzhong, Ambassador of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The event, hosted by the People's Government of Anhui Province and organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Anhui Province and Huangshan Municipal People's Government, saw participation from over a hundred travel businesses from more than thirty countries and regions, including the United States, Russia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions of China.

November 8, 2023 – The China Cultural and Tourism Enterprise Cooperation Development Conference, under the theme "Join Hands with Hospitable Shandong for a Win-Win Future in Cultural Tourism", commenced in Zibo, Shandong. The conference, featuring an opening ceremony, a main forum, and four parallel forums (matchmaking sessions), serves as a platform for domestic and international cultural and tourism enterprises to explore cooperation opportunities. Dignitaries including Shandong's Deputy Party Secretary and Governor ZHOU Naixiang, World Tourism Alliance (WTA) Chair Mr. ZHANG Xu, President of the China Tourism Association Qiang DUAN, and President of the China Cultural Industry Association ZHANG Bin graced the event with their presence and speeches.

November 8, 2023 – The 2023 China-Africa Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Forum was held in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, China. The event was graced with video addresses by DU Jiang, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, and H.E. Mr. Seleshi Girma, State Minister of Tourism of Ethiopia. In-person speeches were delivered by H.E. Rahamtalla M. Osman, Permanent Representative of the African Union to China, XU Peng, Level I Inspector of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and LI Binfeng, Vice Mayor of Jinhua Municipal People's Government. Keynote speeches were presented by Mr. LIU Shijun, Vice Chair and Secretary-General of World Tourism Alliance (WTA), and other distinguished guests including Sarah Attissou, the Deputy Director Cooperation of the Cooperation and Professionalization Department of Tourism and Leisure Ministry of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.

On October 25th, the 2023 Tourism Hotel Industry High-quality Development Conference convened in Penglai District of Yantai City, Shandong Province. SUN Jiye, Vice-Chairman of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, graced the event with his presence and delivered a keynote speech. Key figures in attendance and delivering thematic addresses included LIU Shijun, the Vice Chair & Secretary-General of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), LIU Zhuohui from the International Academy for Quality, WEI Jigang, Deputy Director of the Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD), and WANG Jianping, the President of the Zhejiang Hotel Association and President of the Narada Group. The theme of the conference was elaborated upon by HE Zhuanglong, President of the Shandong Tourist Hotel Association (STHA), with CHEN Fujiao, Vice Chair & Secretary-General of the Hunan Tourist Hotel Association (HTHA), presiding over the assembly.

From October 17th to 20th, at the invitation of the Secretariat of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Mr. LIU Shijun, Vice Chair & Secretary-General of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), led a delegation to attend the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly and related events in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, as an observer.
